I just finished reading an article by Kim Lachance Shandrow over at Entrepreneur about Social Media Planning. While I agree with pretty much all Kim has to say, I do think there is one more area worth mentioning.
While creating a Social Media Plan (strategy) is a great idea and most companies would do well to have one in place, there is a potential downside. Don’t let your plan stifle creativity and spontaneity. Too many companies fall victim to the scheduled post and let the fear straying outside the lines of their Social Media plan stymie the flow of real thoughts.
So, while you should definitely have a plan, don’t forget to enjoy Social Media the way it was truly intended to be enjoyed – off the cuff.
